The Wavy Music Awards

The Wavys, founded in 2021, celebrates historically excluded and marginalized talent including women, non-binary individuals, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and artists with disabilities. The event has influenced accessibility awareness for The Grammys and The Libera Awards via our former partner RAMPD. The Wavys receives annual support from the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

In 2022, I met Rebecca Autumn Sansom, founder of The Wavys. I thought the mission statement behind the show was incredibly powerful and aligned with my passions as well. Later that year, I would be asked to join The Wavys team as an assistant stage manager and event promotion lead.

As an event promotion lead, I developed the Wavys Awards 2022 press release, created event promotion materials for social media, and media kits for PR outreach.

On September 10th, 2022 The Wavys Music Awards was hosted in Abrons Arts Center located in New York. During the day of the show, I managed backstage operations which encompassed coordinating with the director, artists, performers speakers, and crew members to ensure that cues and set changes were actioned with precision. Additionally, I was actively maintaining production schedules and call sheets so that all the rehearsals were as efficient as possible, resulting in a smoother performance overall.

Performers, nominees, and guests who attended the 2022 Wavy Music Awards

The Wavy Music Awards show ended on a wildly successful note. All performers, nominees, and crew members thoroughly represented the diversity of the music industry and highlighted the contributions of industry professionals who have been historically underrepresented.

Check out the amazing performers, speakers, and guests who attended the event. Special appearances included former manager of The Wu-Tang Clan, Sophia Chang, Grammy nominated musician, Divinity Roxx, members of RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities), and more.
