Kathleen on the violin
I began playing the violin at the age of 4, and shortly after was when my passion for music blossomed. After continuing the violin throughout middle and high school, I ended up studying Music at NYU Steinhardt and further progressing my journey there. Violin is an extremely complex instrument and the expertise that’s needed reflects in my personal characteristics, including a distinctive attention to detail, high level of patience, organization, and love for music.
Violin was something I always leaned to when I wanted to de-stress or release some of my worries. When I performed in front of others, my music had the ability to make people smile, bob their heads to the rhythm, or even weep at times, and being able to play powerful pieces so beautifully on this instrument was a reason for me to keep going, no matter how intensive practicing or how harsh the criticism were. I also began to view music in a different light, and found it easy to understand the story an artist is trying to portray.
I’ve played in orchestras and performed with several artists throughout NYC. I have also created instrumental covers to a few songs. My style of playing is very freeform and improvisational, a mix of pop/classical so I am able to play any music an artist has in mind or wants to replicate. Check out some of my works below!
